Choi Wooshik noted this was somewhat surprising, given that he doesn't generally like leaving his home at all due to COVID-19 restrictions. Choi Wooshik said that he felt nervous about doing stage greetings for the film "The Policeman's Lineage" in part because of the virus. Choi Wooshik said he was drawn to "Our Beloved Summer" because he wanted to do a project with and about good people, and was thankful that the production was able to meet his expectations in that regard.

According to Choi Wooshik an important thematic element of "Our Beloved Summer" was the four seasons. The story deals with how the main couple, Choi Wooshik progress from high school acquaintances to a steady young adult couple, to being alone after a break-up, to finally meeting again as per the premise of the drama. Choi Wooshik felt that the approach was fresh and believes that this is why it connected with viewers worldwide.

Choi Wooshik also compared "Our Beloved Summer" to "Parasite" in terms of how he tended to regard himself during filming, not as Choi Wooshik, but as the character he was portraying. Choi Wooshik described the experience as mysterious and awkward. Relative to his own personality, Choi Wooshik said that his character had a synchronization rate of around 60-70%. Choi Wooshik described himself as sleepless and greedy, just like his character.

Lastly, Choi Wooshik had kind words regarding his leading co-star Kim Da-mi, with whom he appeared in "The Witch : Part 1. The Subversion" back in 2018. Choi Wooshik felt he had much better romantic comedy chemistry with Kim Da-mi in "Our Beloved Summer" than they did as antagonistics sorcerers in the supernatural action film. "Our Beloved Summer" ended on January 25th with domestic television ratings of 5.2%.
