[HanCinema's News] Director Shin Chang-seok Talks About "Woman in a Veil"

On March 14th a press conference was held for the new evening soap opera "Woman in a Veil" in Seoul. At this press conference, director Shin Chang-seok confirmed that "Woman in a Veil" would be his last project at KBS. He had also made "Man in a Veil" for the network as 2021 as well as "Young Lady and Gentleman" in 2022. Shin Chang-seok has worked for his entire career at KBS, and claimed to be paying them back for all the assistance they'd given to his career.

Despite being praised for his know-how, Shin Chang-seok claimed that he had none, having taken strength from directing his productions rather than the other way around. Shin Chang-seok said that he could feel the female hormones coming out. Shin Chang-seok also stated that he had an enjoyable time filming with actors that he could believe in and screenwriters that he could get along with. Shin Chang-seok said that art and musical design was also a result of collaboration.

Shin Chang-seok then said that the actors of "Woman in a Veil" specifically were pleasant to work with. Shin Chang-seok described himself as a supporter who was working to help them show their true potential. In exlplaining the title of the drama, Shin Chang-seok said that this started as a joke with screenwriter Lee Jeong-dae about the Park Chan-wook revenge trilogy of movies. Thus, they would make their own trilogy of three drama series about veils.

"Woman in a Veil" stars Choi Yoon-young in the leading role as a woman who seeks to return an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. The drama airs on weekday nights at 7:50 PM in the evening Korean time. "Woman in a Veil" had ratings of 10.4% in its first episode which aired on March 14th.
